Simple Revisions: Switch Plate Update
It's very safe to say that home updates on any level, big or small, get me fired. up. I could (and do) spend all day dreaming them up and I'll never get tired of bringing an idea to life. One of the many reasons I love design so much!
The kind of home updates I have a particular soft spot for are the ones that are:
Not expensive
Something I can do all by myself
A simple change that makes a big difference
My latest project of updating the switch plate covers in our entire home from basic white plastic to pretty antique brass is high up on the favorites list. Such a simple, easy change that really added such a special touch to every room!
Obviously outlet covers aren't the most beautiful thing in the world in general, and capturing them in a pretty way is admittedly trickier than one might think, but check out a little before and after of the switch plate update in our little kitchen!

I know it's tough to tell the color of the antique brass in this lighting, but it's a great subtle color—super soft brownish gold with a brushed finish. Not shiny, doesn't show fingerprints, no yellow/orange vibes. Overall, perfect for our little house to mix so well with all of our existing black accents!
This update cost around $200 dollars (light switches and outlets add up quicker than you'd think!) and was obviously so easy to do on my own—just a flathead screwdriver required. I'm so pleased with how this update elevated every single room and I'd highly recommend it for anyone looking for simple change to add a designer touch to their space!
You can shop the exact covers I purchased below (from Amazon!) They have lots of finishes available so you can pick the best color to suit your space. Antique brass was perfect for our house, but another finish could be better for yours!
